The Constitution of the Modern Game Club

The Club shall be known as THE MODERN GAME CLUB (MGC)

The objects of the Club shall be to encourage the breeding, showing and judging of Modern Game according to the standard and scale of points as laid down by the MGC and ratified by The Poultry Club

An Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the transaction of the Club’s business shall be held annually at a venue decided by the President, Officers and Committee of the Club

Any member wishing to add an item to the AGM agenda or make an alteration to the Club Constitution shall give notice in writing to the Secretary no later than thirty days prior to the following AGM. Voting on proposals or Constitution amendments shall be by a simple majority of members present at the AGM. In the event of a tie, the Chairman shall be entitled to a casting vote

The Management of the MGC shall be the responsibility of a Committee comprised of a President, the Officers: an Honorary Chairman, Hon Vice Chairman, Hon Secretary and Hon Treasurer and of four general members. The Committee may, at its discretion, co-opt further members

Officers of the Club shall be drawn from the Committee members

Applicants for vacancies on the Committee need to express a willingness to serve in writing to the Secretary no less than thirty days prior to the AGM and must then be proposed and seconded by two Club members and approved by a majority vote of the membership present at the AGM

The President, Officers and Committee shall retire annually at the AGM, but will be eligible for re-election by a simple majority vote of the membership present at the AGM

The Quorum for the AGM shall be five members which shall include two Officers

The income and property of the MGC shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the objects of the Club as set forth in this Constitution and no portion shall be paid to Members of the Club except by way of re-imbursement of authorised expenses legitimately incurred in the Club’s service

A Balance sheet/ income expenditure account of the Club, duly audited, shall be presented at the AGM and published annually in the Club Newsletter

A report detailing business conducted by the Club shall be presented at the AGM by the Hon Secretary and published annually in the Club Newsletter

A member’s annual subscription shall commence from January 1st and finish on December 31st of the same year. Any member that fails to pay their subscription up to 6 weeks from that date will be deemed to have resigned from the Club.

Any increase in the annual subscription shall be determined by a simple majority vote of members present at the AGM

Only members that have paid their annual subscriptions shall be entitled to compete for Club specials, attend meetings, vote at the AGM, be eligible for selection to judge at Club and Regional shows and take part in any privileges of the membership of the Club

Members leaving the Club shall forfeit claim to any property belonging to the Club

Judges at MGC Regional and Club Shows shall be drawn from MGC members

All birds exhibited at a MGC Regional or Club show shall be the absolute property of those persons exhibiting them. No bird exhibited at a MGC Regional or Club show shall be faked, artificially coloured or have been subjected to any other practice that in the opinion of the Officers is likely to bring the Club into disrepute

It shall be the obligation of every member to bring any suspected breach of Rule 18 to the attention of the President, Officers and Committee of the Club, who shall determine whether a breach has occurred. Any member found to have breached rule 18 shall be guilty of dishonourable practice and will be expelled from the membership of the Club and shall forfeit all interest therein

Only members who have not won a first prize at a MGC Regional or Club shows shall compete in a Novice Class at those shows

In the event that the Club shall be dissolved, as determined by the members at an AGM by a simple majority vote, the President, Officers and the Committee of the Club shall meet to decide how the monies and other assets held by the Club shall be distributed as appropriate

 22

Any matter which is not covered by the Constitution shall be dealt with by the President, Officers and Committee, whose decision shall be final
