Judges Comments

It gave me great pleasure to judge the National this year. Decent entry of birds with many not quite there yet.
It’s bit of a hobby horse, but I do feel leg colour needs watching, some super birds with bluey green “pin” rather than the required willow, which is green / yellow!

At one time the “Old boys” used to say blue legs showed duckwing crosses. Don’t think that is the case, it must be environmental as breeding stock is often “perfect” yet chicks fail.

Thanks again, best wishes Andrew Wetters, President MGC.

***************

It was really an eyes down session to judge 19 classes by 12:30, sorry if I never had time to chat with fanciers during this period.

But very enjoyable for me, some good quality classes but some were just average.

The Pile males and trio class were superb, not too much between the first four and remember it’s just my decision on the day.

Two other birds come to mind as excelling these being the Duckwing female and the novice Wheaten female. The three off colour females were good to see but disappointing there were no self Blues, Blue Reds, Crele, Blue Duckwings or Whites.

It was my second occasion to have the honour and privilege to judge the National, thank you for asking me and I hope to be fit to do it again sometime.

Best wishes .....Alan.
