498, Large Modern Male - Black Red "A" (3)
1. AWE James, Good legs and leg colour, Nice fine bird, good long neck. Best Opposite Size, Best Large Modern.
2. A-L Daybell, Decent type, just not as good as first bird.
3. T&J Buck, Poor leg colour.

499, Large Modern Female - "B" Black Red (7)
1. AWE James,Nice colour, bit soft in condition.
2. AWE James,Very similar to first, not as fit.
3. A-L Daybell,Stronger than first two, Rosey in wing not in clour.
4. A-L Daybell, Rosey wing.

500, Large Modern Male - "B" AOC (5)
1. AWE James, Pile, Nice colour, tall on the strong side.
2. A-L Daybell, Gold Duckwing, Nice in colour not as tall as winner.
3. AWE James, Silver Duckwing, Very similar to second, just losing out on colour.
4. P T Watkinson, Pile, Nice fine bird, needs more time to finish off.A-L Daybell

501, Large Modern Female "A" AOC (6)
1. P T Watkinson, Pile, Nice shape, Good legs and good eye colour.Best Large Opposite Sex Modern.
2. K Brain, Duckwing, Nice flat back and Type, poor leg and eye colour.
3. C P Kurfeld, Pile, Nice bird, beautiful legs, let down by breast colour.
4. A-L Daybell, Suspect back toes.

502, Black Red Male 'B' (11)
1. C Lewis, Super type & condition, colour, BEST MODERN
2. AWE James, Not far behind winner, leg colour very Wheaten like?
3. S McKean, Tall, stylish bit long for me.
4. H Carson, Nice bird, would have been third but very stiff in legs.

503, Black Red Female "A" (10)
1. C Lewis,Very stylish, nice shoulders, short back, even colour, nice flat back, good leg colour.
2. H Carson, Lovely colour, nice long neck, good hard feather, slightly longer in back than winner.
3. H Carson, Another nice bird, different type to winner, bit longer in back and not quite as fine.
4. G Pearson, Decent bird, failed on wing damage.

504, Wheaten Male "B" (6)
1. H Carson, Stylish bird, on the strong side for me.
2  B Bannister, Stylish, but very stripped in hackle.
3. P T Watkinson, Dark in colour, poor leg colour.
4. T Thompson, Needed more time.

505, Wheaten Female "A"(6)
1. P T WAtkinson, Nice bird, lovely colour, nice hard feather, easy winner.
2. Carson, Reasonable type, let down by colour.
3. R S Banister, Good colour, good long leg, spoilt by being too long and having a round back.
4. R White, Reasonable in type, poor leg colour.

506, Pile Male "A" (3),
1. S P McKean, Very good colour, lovely chestnut bay- generally a good colour all round.
2 & 3 B Carder, Better birds for type and style but let down by colour and preparation. Second bird just a little better type.

Overall three good birds.

507,Pile Female "B"  (5),
1. S Mckean,Very stylish, nice colour.
2. S McKean,Nice colour, not as tall as winner.
3. S.Mckean, Not as shapely as first two birds.
4. B Carder, Not as nice in colour as other birds.

508, Gold Duckwing Male "B"  (3)
1. C Lewis, Nice colour, superb leg colour, needed more pen training.
2. B Bannister, Very tall, poor in leg colour.
3. P T Watkinson, Too strong for me, poor leg colour.

509, Silver Duckwing Male "B" (9)
1. S McKean, Stylish, nice colour, good leg colour shown well.
2. P T Watkinson, Similar to first, but slightly bronzed in silver.
3. H Carson, Just not shown as fit as first two.
4. C Lewis, Super old cock.

510, Duckwing Female "A"  (8) 1 empty
1. Pt Watkinson, Good hard feather, nice tail angle, nice flat back, stylish, decent eye, reasonable legs, really good shoulders, - easy winner. Best Opposite Sex Bantam Modern.
2. R S Banister, Stylish, good tail angle, good leg colour.
3. H Carson, Nice bird, spoilt by tail angle and legs.
4. H carson, Nice pullet, nice wing carriage- very little between 2nd, 3rd & 4th birds.

511, Birchen Male "A" (3)
1. SA&G Hodge, Easy winner, lovely flat back, nice lacing, nice tail angle, dark legs, eyes and face.
2. C Lewis, Decent colour, not in same league as winner.
3. AWE James, Round in back, decent colour.

512, Birchen Female "B" (6),
1. S&G Hodge, Nice colour, but very fine, even for me.
2. M Griffiths, Not as stylish slighlty dark in cap.
3. EJ de Gray, Nice colour and style, would have won the class but duck foot.
4. AWE James, Dark in cap, poor covering, white toe nails.

513 ,Brown Red Male "B" (6) 4 empty
1.PT Watkinson, Nice Light colour, but poor in lacing.
2. S&G Hodge, Darker in colour but better lacing.

514, Brown Red Female "A" (10) 1 empty
1. EJ de Gray, Nice lacing, good dark face, legs, eye
2. M A Carson, Nice and short, lovely top colour, suspect in lacing, better type than winner.
3. P T Watkinson, Nice bird, let down by face colour.
4. M A Carson, Lovely top colour, again let down by suspect lacing.

515, AOC Standard Male "A" (8) 3 empty
1. C Lewis, Beautiful lacing and colour, stylish, good shouilders, generally a nice cock bird.
2. Pt Watkinson, Nice tall sort of bird, tendency to tip forward on front toes, very brassy in colour.
3. T E Thompson Nice bird, too big
4. R S Banister, Nice bird too dark in colour.

516, AOC Standard Female "B" (12)
1. PT Watkinson, Silver Blue, Nice stylish bird, shown very fit.
2. EJ de Gray, Lemon Blue, Super colour not as fit as winner.
3. S&G Hodge, Silver Blue, Very similar to second, a little longer.
4. EJ de Gray, Silver Blue, Very similar to second and third, slightly fine.

517 AC Non Standard Male "B" (3)
1. B Banister,Fair type, colour unknown.
2. AWE James, Silver Blue, Average, white toe nails.
3. P Hall, Crele, Very poor type

1.H Carson, Really nice Silver Wheaten, let down by lack of fitness - easy winner of class.
2. AWE James, Decent Splash bird.
3. R S Banister, Another Silver Wheaten,not as good a shape as others.
4. AWE James, Blue-let down by face colour and white toe nails.

1369, Trios, "A&B" (5)
1. C Lewis, Duckwings, lovely leg colour, two lovely pullets.
2. H Carson, Duckwings, Best trio for type, let down by leg colour.
3. S P Mckean, Piles, Nice trio, nice leg colour, one pullet better than other birds, a bit deep.
4. AWE James, Black Red, Fitter than the Birchens, poor female colour soft in feather.

1120, Juvenile/Junior Section M/F "A" (14).
1.C Lewis, Nice short bird, good colour, overall, lovely breast colour -this bird would have been in contention in the main class.
2. J W Crowther, Good short bird, nice colour- another bird that would have been in contention in main class.
3. G Brearley, Nice Black Red Pullet, good hard feather, good shoulders.
4. C Lewis, Really nice hen.

Judges Comments

Thanks to all exhibitors, I enjoyed judging along with fellow judge Graham Cannell, we managed to find some quite nice birds with Black Red Male winning Best Modern, just over the Duckwing Female. Best Large Black red Male being very fine and stylish for a large, with Pile Female being Best Opposite Sex Large.
