Australian Modern Game

The UK club has had quite a bit of correspondance with The Game Club of Western Australia, resulting in me sending a new painting and linen copies of other ones for their August 2006 Show. This is the resultant feedback and images received. I am sure this will be of interest to Modern Keepers the world over ... Alan.

From Nathan Watson, the Club Secretary

The Game Club of Western Australia held a very successful show on Saturday and Sunday, August 26-27 2006.
Modern Games were a special feature of the show with several paintings donated by British artist Alan Higgs on behalf of the Modern Game Club of UK awarded as major trophies.
There were six large Modern Games and 102 Modern Game bantams on show amongst the 539 entries, with some top quality Moderns amongst them.
Standard Modern Game are very rare in Australia and it was good to see several specimens of these shown in Black Reds and Piles.
The Champion Large Modern Game was a beautiful Pile Hen – as good a large Modern Game as can be seen anywhere in Australia. She went on to win Reserve Champion Modern Game in Show. The Reserve Champion Large Modern Game was a large Pile Cock. Both birds were shown by F & G Tomlinson.
Club president Peter Strike took a quinella in the bantams, winning Champion with a stunning Blue tail Wheaten hen and Reserve Champion with a Blue Red cockerel. Mr Strike showed more than 70 Modern and Old English Game bantams at the show and each one was presented to perfection.
The little Blue tail Wheaten Modern was immaculate and went on to win Champion Bird in Show.
Modern Games were judged by New South Wales fancier Robert Hunt, who commented on their quality.
Trevor Brock was named the Most Successful Modern Game exhibitor, narrowly edging out Peter Strike and F & G Tomlinson.
It was a great show and our club extends its thanks to Mr Higgs and the Modern Game Club of UK for their generous support.
